Finished and onto a new challenge

I finished reading The New Testament. I loved reading it and I learned something new everyday. Mostly I learned that I need to be reading my scriptures everyday because of the peaceful feeling it brings into my life.

My daughter suggested do something about being positive so with that in mind I found this picture on facebook-

So my goal for the next 30 days is really two goals in one. I am changing my negative thoughts to positive thoughts and I am going to post a picture of something positive in my life that I am grateful for each day. With that in mind I am going to need help from those I talk to, text, and email to remind me to focus on the good in life.

New Testament

My plan was to finishing reading The New Testament in 30 days which would be today. I did not finish reading in 30 days but I am very close. I will finish reading by the end of October. Last night I read where Paul said, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4: 7. I hope someday I can be able to say that I have fought a good fight and kept the faith. For me faith is a what helps me get through the trials in my life no matter how small or insignificant they may be. It is not always easy to remember to have faith and remember that each trial is just a stepping stone to helping me become stronger. My family,(children, husband and siblings) are always there to remind me that all will be okay, maybe not today but some day. I just need to always remember- This too shall pass-.

Fall

Tonight as I drove home from town I saw these beautiful trees all decked out in wonderful fall colors. So on my walk tonight I passed the trees again and thought I need a picture of those. So I walked back home and got my camera so I could get a picture.

Charity

I just finished reading 1 Corinthains :13 which says

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily ,provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth:

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Everytime I read these I know that I need to work on having more Charity toward everyone!

Rocks

I finally got almost all my rocks that Ron and I have collected on our trips in one place. I put them all on the west side of our house. I figure this is a good place as the pine tree is there and not much else grows very good there. In the spring I will put my metal flower back out there also. The second picture is what Ron got from his Grandma Davies that is hanging up above the rock garden.

First Stone

John 8: 4-11 is one of my favorites. So I will share it with you.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Every time I read these scriptures it helps me to remember that I need to put down my stones and stop judging others.

Corn Bread

Tonight for dinner I made corn bread in the cast iron corn pan that my mom gave to me. It was fun and easy to make corn bread shaped like corn.

General Conference and Grandbabies

What a great weekend it has been.
All 4 of the Grandbabies stayed here Saturday to Sunday afternoon. I will post a few picture of the fun they had at Grandma and Grandpa's. Eleanor loved playing with MacKenzie and Kayla. Thomas just wanted to be in the middle of everything, the girls did not appreciate that at all.

General Conference was also this weekend. I got to watch all four sessions. All the talks were very good, but the ones that I stood out to me right now are Elder Hales and Elder Scott's talks. Elder Hale encouraged us to wait upon the Lord, explaining that means to stay steadfast, press forward with faith and remember not our will but the Lord's will. “The purpose of our life on earth is to grow, develop, and be strengthened through our own experiences,” he said.
Elder Scott talked about the scriptures and how they are tools that Heavenly Father has given us to help us overcome our challenges. He said “ Learning, pondering, searching, and memorizing scriptures is like filling a filing cabinet with friends, values, and truths that can be called upon anytime, anywhere in the world.”
During the Women's Conference, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk was so inspiring and really what I need to hear. I am posting a link to it because it is worth reading again and again. http://lds.org/general-conference/2011/10/forget-me-not?lang=eng

And I am sure as I re-listen to Conference I will learn more and different ones will stand out to me.
I am so grateful that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and that I can hear the Lord's word through his Prophet and Apostles.

Kellie

It is a interesting thing how a teenager takes care of a care when it is their own. Kellie washes her car about every other week which is something she never did when she was driving our car. And she was the only one driving that car. MacKenzie went out and helped her Aunt Kellie.
