March

It is crazy that March is here already, not sure why time seems to go by so fast.
I watched a TED Talk last month by Shawn Achor called "The happy secret to better work" .  This talk is about how being positive helps us be happy in our daily life.
He suggested doing the following things for 21 days to create lasting positive change.
  • 3 gratitude each day
  • Journaling about one positive experience each day.
  • Exercise
  • Meditation
  • Random Acts of Kindness (he says write one positive email praising someone in your social network)

So that is my goal for the month.  Exercise will not be a problem as I already do that most days.  I have been doing Yoga every morning so I will probably count that as my meditation.  Journaling about a positive and finding 3 gratitude each day might be a little harder as it is just easier to see the negative. I know if I do this that it will help me be a happy person.  I do not plan on blogging each day but hopefully I will do it ones a week

If you have time take a moment and listen to this Ted Talk, it is well worth it.

De-Cluttering

After loads of garbage and two trips to the DI, my house is de-cluttered! It is a good feeling to know that the stuff that is no longer being used is out of my house.  The key will be to keep it that way. It is so easy just to keep things because I might use it some day.  While if it is sitting in a box collecting dust then most likely when I need it I will forget it is there and it is not going to get used.
Now if I could just get my husband and children to de-clutter their things.

Kellie

Kellie is part of We the People which is a dual credit government class that takes a lot of time. Yesterday she went with her class to Boise for state competition.  Due to her hard work and the hard work of her teacher and class mates they won state and will go to the National Competition in Washington D.C. later this spring. I am proud of her for sticking it out even though the class was hard and there were times she just wanted to be done with it.
